Tina Rueles received the gift of life when she had a double-lung transplant on Feb. 27, 2013. Since that time, she has dedicated her life to helping educate the public about the importance of organ donation. 

Tina recently completed her master’s degree in Social Work from Tarleton State University and after passing her exam, is now a licensed Social Worker. She works two part-time jobs and volunteers as many hours a month as she can.

Tina is beyond grateful to her donor’s family for making the brave decision to donate their loved ones organs at the worst possible time of their life. Not only is Tina a recipient, she is a donor family member as well.

On May 20, 2017, Tina met her donor’s family for the first time at the LifeGift 2nd Chance Run. They stay in touch on a regular basis.

You know you need to eat right and exercise to keep your body healthy, but as you age, it’s even more important to keep your brain healthy than it is to build biceps or lose love handles.

For many older people who may be experiencing a decline in their mental and/or physical abilities, a program of long-term brain health training may improve their quality of life. And the need is pressing - according to Dave Parks, President of Home Care Assistance of Fort Worth, someone is diagnosed with some form of dementia every three seconds.
