PDG Dave Mason, Guillermo Olarte, and Ted and Nancy Paup visited our club Tuesday August 25th to celebrate the Emergency Vehicle (a matching grant project)recently presented to help service Municipal de Negrete, Chile.

Under District 5790 Governor Dave Mason in 2008, our HEB International Chair Guillermo Olarte was the Group Study Exchange Team Leader to Chile. While visiting the area in Chile (where PDG Mason was raised), the GSE team learned of the need for an emergency vehicle to service the poor in a nearby location.

Guillermo managed the project and worked out the many details with the Rotary Club and District in Chile along with PDG Mason.
Many thanks to Rotarian Ted and Nancy Paup (Rotary Club of Fort Worth) who got the funding started with a contribution of $2,000 honoring their good friend Governor Dave Mason. Our District 5790 added $3,000 in TRF District Designated Funds. The RC of Los Angeles (Chile) added $5,300, and their District 4360 another $1,700. The Rotary Foundation provided a match of $8,300 which enabled the purchase of this much needed emergency transportation.
The Rotary Club of Hurst-Euless-Bedford's ongoing attainment of Every Rotarian Every Year (averaging over $100 per member each year to the Annual Programs Fund) makes it possible for The Rotary Foundation and the District to provide matching funds for these projects.
It is a great pleasure to have PDG Dave, Ted and Nancy and Guillermo visit our club and celebrate with the HEB club the completion of this project.
Many thanks also for the support of Guillermo's project committee made up of John Brown, Charlie Runnels and Aileen Curtain.
